Something that most people fear is the prospect of losing everything. Of losing their families, homes, belongings, jobs, and everything else that they hold dear.
Understandably, that’s something that is pretty easy to fear. No one wants to go through that.
Except authors–we want to put people through that because it can make for a book story! (Maybe we’re a smidge evil. Hahaha)
Your prompt is to tell the tale of someone who loses it all due to something that they saw coming and had more than enough time to get out of the way. (Or maybe you can tell the story of someone who was surprised by it.)
Maybe they remained on a volcano after being told to evacuate. When they didn’t leave, the volcano went off and took everything they had.
Maybe they knew that their drinking would ruin it all.
Maybe they knew that sailing their ship straight through iceberg territory would sink their ship, but they wanted to risk it anyway.
Tell the tale of pain like no one else can!
As always, this prompt is free to use however you want! I know I’ll be dropping a story or two in Inklings off this prompt though! You’re free to share your stories on our website too!
