This prompt is taken from Numbers 13. It’s for those lovely Bible Adaptations that I like doing prompts for.
Now, what’s this prompt?
It’s a prompt for the twelve spies that Moses sent out to explore the Promised Land.
In this land, there were unspeakable blessings that flowed. Amazing blessings which God had set aside for His people.
All they had to do was walk into the Lord’s promises.
Problem is, there are always scary things standing between us and our destinies. That’s why people grow up and have regrets. It’s why the history books only have a few hundred people that make history and not millions or billions of people. It’s the scary things that stop us from stepping into the things we know we’re supposed to do.
Your prompt is to tell the tale of one of the spies (bonus points if you don’t choose Joshua or Caleb). Tell the tale of what they see and think.
Are the grapes they took back to Moses really that amazing and plentiful? Are the giants really that big? What other kinds of critters do they see? Do they encounter demons who try to discourage them from bringing back a good report of the land?
As always, this prompt is free to use however you want! Write a book, write a scene, maybe a short story that you’ll share on the InklingsFiction site.
Whatever it is, God put a story in all of us. Write on, and God bless.
