This week’s prompt is all about the sun peeking through the trees. Before you leave me and think this prompt is dumb, give me a chance!
When I was in Search and Rescue, the area I did most of my searches in was all sorts of cold. There was snow that was deeper than I am tall. Sometimes you’d fall through and fall into a stream that had been covered.
It was cold, it was miserable.
Every so often, though, the sun would peek through the trees and grant us a few moments of warmth. Steam would rise off our drenched clothes and morale would peak, if only for a few moments.
This week’s prompt is to tell the tale of someone who has a similar experience. One where the presence of sunlight peeking in grants them a boost of morale.
Maybe they’ve been kidnapped and the brief glimpse of the sun is all the light that they get to see as they’re held in some horrible prison. Maybe they’re soldiers and they’ve grown used to cloud cover and are blessed with one day of light. Maybe they’re explorers who were caught in a cave-in and they finally spot the first bit of light as they dig themselves out.
Whatever you choose to write about, you’re free to use it however you please!
