The Family Homestead: Weekly Prompt 39

Your family were some of the first homesteaders on some frontier land that no one else wanted. No matter how many people were asked, no one cared to leave their comfortable lives to chance it on journeying to a land they have never seen.
But your family are hungry for adventure. For success. For legacy. They know that history and God both award the bold.
Tell me a story about some homesteaders who do something:
-Maybe they are packing to leave for the new land.
-Maybe you pick up the story somewhere along the trek to the new land.
-Maybe you join them as they enter the Promised Land and take their claim.
-Maybe you write about the first winter and how had it is.
-Maybe they get kidnapped along the route by pirates who take them somewhere else!
-Maybe the land they claim is from a vision they’ve had and it’s totally gorgeous and you tell the story with a bunch of flashbacks as they look over the land they are taking.
This is super open-ended, so write what you will! This prompt is free to use however you please and I’d love to see it on Inklings Fiction’s site too!
